
When we talk about bringing people to their feet by spinning at the hottest NYC and NJ night clubs, we are definitely talking about Anthony Rey aka "El Chico Mezcla" who has many assets in the music industry. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Anthony Rey immigrated to the United States at the age of 18. It was then, when his interest and focus towards music took a radical change for the best in his life. He developed a unique skill for music production that fused the best of the Latin and American cultures in to a frenzy of hot mixes. Soon enough Rey took on mixing club bangers at all the hottest house parties and major private events. This allowed his mixes not only to become unique but most importantly gain his signature beat in early 2004. Anthony Rey began deejaying at a local café called De Gala, in New Brunswick, NJ. However, Rey was determined to be successful and he knew that his passion for music would allowed him to go far and beyond. He pushed his skills further by deejaying in different night clubs such as Passion, JJ café, Club Abyss, El imperial and many other hot spots around NYC and NJ. In 2005 he moved on to hosting short slots at a local low frequency radio station in Newark, NJ called "Rumba 99.9fm". In addition to his great mixes, skills and ability; Anthony Rey is without question a master mixer in all genres such as Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, Bachata, Reggae, House, Techno, Hip-Hop, Vallenato, Cumbia, Punta, etc. The charisma and energy that he transmitted allowed him to gain a diversity of enthusiastic followers.
One of Anthony Rey's best years in his musical career was in 2008 he worked for "Mapi TV" as a host for "Las Comadres" with Gloria B. This hit show was transmitted through "Telemundo" (channel 47). He also displayed his talents in mixing for "Latina 100.3," Rhode Island. He contributed in special events such as boat rides which he had the privilege of hosting the widely known and celebrated Dominican Independence day parade in New Jersey. He collaborated with other signature disc jockeys such as: "Los Mix Masters", "Lo Maximo Production," and "Los Reyes Del Mambo." In addition, Anthony Rey was recognized as the signature disc jockey of the year in 2008 in Newark, NJ. Since 2009 Anthony Rey continued to involve himself further with the growing music industry working on Radio Online. He has continued mixing with the hottest Latino disc jockeys known in the tri-state area who host the infamous radio stations "X96.3" and "La Mega 97.9." Currently he is known as one of the best DJ's of the NY and NJ club scene, local radios stations, and internet shows. Anthony's hard work resulted in success and many achievements over the years. His reputation is absolute by the ranking of over 50 million new enthusiastic visitors to his webpage. In May 2010 Anthony Rey's first CD, "Musica Con Clase Vol 1" was launched, collaborated with the Manager of Aventura, on the making of the remix of their album "The Last". On August 2010 his 2nd CD "Musica Con Clase Vol 2" was released with a great acceptance of his fans. Anthony Rey persistently continues to focus on excelling new and unique ways to produce, mix, and host music events. DJ Anthony Rey is currently working on a project to give back to the community all the support they give him by sponsoring young deejays in his native Santo Domingo. His daily priorities focus on not only to conquer a dream but to introduce modern and versatile skills to the evolving music industry.
• Where did your passion for music come from? How did it all get started? - Music was Always In my life, But honestly when I was younger it was never my goal to be a Dee-jay. I didn't even know about Dee-Jays career until I came to United States at the age of 18, Then one of my cousins was a Dee-jay, he showed me how to Dj. • What are your influences? Your Motivators? - Here Is My Strongest Motivation, when I remember where I come from, When I Look Back and I tell myself Im not going back there ever Again and also certain People who Influences me because they came from similar places to where I come from, Artist such as 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Eminem, Secreto and my Mother. • Name 3 songs that are stuck in your head right now. - Chris Brown Ft Benny Benassi - Beautiful People - Remix - Adele - Rolling In The Deep - Secreto - Papa Dios Me Dijo • What advice could you give to an aspiring DJ trying to break it in the mainstream market? - Get Focused, Work hard, be consistent, be humble be original and don't talk bad about other djs • What are some of your hidden talents? - I'm Very Good at Computers and Electricity, I'm also good at baseball and basketball. • What is the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention? - Anyone who is or has ever been a true fan of music knows how music can make you feel. It can be very difficult to explain to those who haven't felt it. I had fans who will drive 4 and 5 hours just to come and see mixing live, there are fans who download my mixes and then do private parties only playing my mixes and they tell people their name is Anthony Rey, also there was a time a group of guys recorded a video from a Resort In Santo Domingo singing and dancing to my mixes at a bar and post it on my facebook. That was Funny How They Did It Lmao!! • Is there an artist you would like to work with but haven’t got a chance to? - I already worked with one of the artists I wanted to work with, The group Of Aventura and also I would like to work with Don Omar, But I haven't Had the opportunity To do it yet. • What are you currently working on so that fans could be looking forward to? - I 'm currently working on 3 New Mixtapes to be released this summer with over 15,000 copies of each mixtapes to the streets. Also I am going to record a E.P.K that will be release for the public to see and every media outlet possible plus I am going release an Iphone App for all the people that enjoy Anthony Rey mixes and mixtapes.
